SECOND GENERATION GREEN LASER MODULES EIGHT TIMES BRIGHTER THAN RED

BEA Lasers, Elk Grove Village, IL, has just announced the release of their new line of second generation super green laser diode modules. The super green makes these new units ideal for spectroscopy, particle measurement, medical tissue analysis, interferometry, and flow visualization, as well as many of the usual positioning capabilities.

With the human eye perceiving light from a green laser at a level eight times more bright than today’s most common red laser diodes (at 65mm) , The green laser light’s significantly brighter than red output makes its use in many applications, a replacement for HeNe lasers, a premium option in many products.

BEA’s second generation laser diode modules offers Automatic Power Control controlling power stability within ±3%, while older first generation units featured an Automatic Power Control yielding a stability of ± 20%.

The model 150C-5-650 is a direct replacement for a HeNe Laser, with 4.5-milliwatt output power at 650 nanometers. The module dimensions are 50.8mm in length by 12.7mm in diameter, and weighs 23 grams. The unit is factory preset to meet class IIIA limits as defined in BS 60825-21CFR part 1040.10(d) and IEC 825. NEW LASER MODULE MOUNTING BRACKETS GIVE IMPROVED POSITIONING

BEA's new Series LB laser module mounting bracket is ideal for positioning and securing laser diode modules, allow air convection cooling, and avoid short circuits from the common "positive case grounding" of today's laser diode modules.

The Series LB compact size, coupled with an easily locked down adjustable motion makes it particularly useful for prototyping or for finished product applications. Heat sink adaptability and non-conductivity broadens the usefulness of these brackets even further.

Constructed of non-conductive DELRIN plastic, the brackets feature 360°rotation around orthogonal (right angle) axes, with right and left translation adjustable along the brackets ¼ x ¾"mounting slots.

BEA Lasers offers a wide variety of bracket sizes as standard, which are designed for a wide range of laser module diameters. Stock sizes include widths of 25, 16, 12.7, 12, and 10.5 mm. Custom sizes are available on special order.

Brackets mount to a post furnished on a 1½ x 1 x ½" non-conductive base for an easy attachment to breadboards or optical tables.

BEA Lasers' newly issued catalog provides details on visible Red Laser Diode Modules from 1 to 35 milliwatts. Available wavelengths are 635 and 650 nanometers. The projected beam can be a spot, line or a crosshair pattern. 532 nanometer Green Laser Diode Modules are also available at 1 and 3 milliwatt outputs. Typical applications include: alignment, positioning, metrology, event and edge detection, security, bar code readers, vision systems, education leveling, robotic control, and lab experimentation.
